Smartlead pricing breakdown for 2026. Compare Basic, Pro, and Custom plans. See how Smartlead compares to Instantly, Saleshandy, and Lemlist for cold email.
Smartlead Pricing: Every Plan Explained
Smartlead has carved out a strong position in the cold email platform market, especially among agencies. The pricing structure looks simple on the surface (three tiers, clean feature matrix), but there are nuances that affect what you actually pay and what you actually get. I've been running campaigns on Smartlead for over a year and have a clear picture of where each plan makes sense and where it doesn't.
The Three Core Plans
Basic: $39/month
The Basic plan gives you 2,000 active leads, unlimited email accounts, and 6,000 emails per month. "Active leads" means the number of prospects currently in active sequences. Once a sequence completes, those leads free up and you can add new ones without upgrading.
Unlimited email accounts is the standout feature at this tier. Instantly and Saleshandy also offer unlimited accounts, but Smartlead was one of the first to do it. You can connect 10, 20, or 50 inboxes and rotate across all of them. This is critical for maintaining safe sending volumes (15 to 20 per inbox per day) while still reaching meaningful total volume.
The 2,000 active lead cap is the real constraint. If you're running multiple campaigns to different audiences simultaneously, you'll hit this cap fast. A single campaign with a 4 email sequence targeting 500 prospects uses 500 of your 2,000 active lead slots until that sequence completes.
Pro: $94/month
Pro bumps you to 30,000 active leads, adds custom CRM integration, a global block list, webhooks, and API access. The 30,000 active lead limit is generous. Most teams won't hit this unless they're running very high volume across many campaigns.
The custom CRM integration is the real upgrade here. On Basic, you're limited to native integrations. On Pro, you can build custom workflows using the API and webhooks to connect Smartlead to any tool in your stack. If you're using HubSpot, Salesforce, or a custom CRM, this is where Smartlead becomes a serious platform rather than just a sending tool.
Global block list is also important at scale. It ensures you never email someone who has unsubscribed, bounced, or been marked as do not contact across any campaign. On Basic, block lists are campaign level only.
Custom: $174/month
The Custom plan offers up to 12 million active leads (effectively unlimited), everything in Pro, plus dedicated IP, custom setup support, and advanced API access. This plan is designed for large operations and agencies managing significant volume.
At $174/month, it's surprisingly affordable for what you get. The dedicated IP can be valuable for teams sending high volume who want to build and control their own IP reputation rather than sharing with other Smartlead users on the default infrastructure.
Agency White Label: The Hidden Add On
This is where Smartlead really differentiates from Instantly and Saleshandy. Smartlead offers a white label add on that lets agencies create client facing dashboards branded with their own logo and domain. Clients can log in, see campaign performance, view replies, and manage their outreach without ever seeing the Smartlead brand.
White label pricing is an add on to your base plan. It typically adds $100 to $200/month depending on the number of client workspaces. For agencies charging $2,000 to $5,000/month per client for cold email services, the white label add on pays for itself with a single client. It adds professionalism and makes your service look proprietary rather than like you're just running a third party tool on their behalf.
Instantly has started adding agency features, but as of 2026, Smartlead's white label implementation is still more mature and customizable.
What "Unlimited Email Accounts" Actually Means
All Smartlead plans include unlimited email accounts. This means you can connect as many inboxes as you want without paying extra per inbox. But there are practical limits.
First, your email infrastructure cost is separate. Each inbox costs you whatever you pay your inbox provider. Google Workspace inboxes from Puzzle Inbox start at $3 each. If you connect 30 inboxes, that's $90/month in infrastructure costs on top of your Smartlead subscription.
Second, Smartlead doesn't limit how many emails each inbox sends, but you should. The safe sending limit for cold email is 15 to 20 emails per inbox per day. Smartlead will happily let you send 100 per inbox per day, but your deliverability will crater. The platform gives you the tools. You need the discipline.
Third, warmup. Smartlead includes built in warmup, but warming up 30 inboxes simultaneously puts load on the warmup network. The warmup quality on Smartlead is generally good, but results can be inconsistent when you're warming large batches. Pre-warmed inboxes skip this concern entirely.
How Smartlead Compares on Price
Smartlead vs Instantly
Instantly Growth: $30/month (5,000 contacts, 5,000 emails). Instantly Hypergrowth: $77.60/month (25,000 contacts, 75,000 emails).
At the entry level, Instantly is cheaper ($30 vs $39). But Smartlead offers unlimited emails while Instantly caps you at 5,000 on the Growth plan. In practice, the email cap doesn't matter much because your daily volume is limited by inbox count and the 15 to 20 per day rule anyway. But if you're running long sequences with many follow ups, Smartlead's unlimited emails mean you never think about email caps.
At the mid tier, Smartlead Pro ($94) costs more than Instantly Hypergrowth ($77.60). But Smartlead Pro includes API access, webhooks, and custom CRM integration that Instantly charges extra for or doesn't offer at all.
My take: Instantly is better for solo operators who want simplicity and the cheapest entry point. Smartlead is better for teams and agencies who need API access, white labeling, and deeper customization.
Smartlead vs Saleshandy
Saleshandy Outreach Pro: $74/month (30,000 prospects, 125,000 emails). Smartlead Pro: $94/month (30,000 active leads, unlimited emails).
At the same prospect/lead tier, Saleshandy is $20/month cheaper. Saleshandy also includes a built in prospect finder that Smartlead doesn't have. On pure value per dollar for a non agency team, Saleshandy wins.
But Smartlead wins on agency features. The white label portal, client management, and API flexibility make Smartlead the better platform for agencies. If you're running campaigns for clients, the extra $20/month is nothing compared to the time saved and the professional appearance of a white labeled client dashboard.
Smartlead vs Lemlist
Lemlist Email Pro: $69/user/month. Smartlead Pro: $94/month total.
A 3 person team on Lemlist Pro costs $207/month. The same team on Smartlead Pro costs $94/month. Lemlist's per user pricing makes it 2 to 3x more expensive for teams. Lemlist only makes sense if you need its multichannel capabilities (LinkedIn automation, landing pages) that Smartlead doesn't offer.
Best Plan for Your Situation
Solo operators: Basic at $39/month. The 2,000 active lead cap is enough for most individual cold email efforts. Connect 5 to 10 inboxes, run 1 to 2 campaigns, and you're well within limits.
Small teams (2 to 5 people): Pro at $94/month. The 30,000 active lead cap, API access, and unified team management justify the upgrade. The custom CRM integration also becomes important as your operation grows and you need data flowing between tools.
Agencies: Pro at $94/month plus white label add on. This is Smartlead's sweet spot. The combination of unlimited email accounts, 30K active leads, API access, and white labeled client portals is purpose built for agency operations. If you manage more than 5 clients or your total active leads exceed 30K, move to Custom.
Large agencies or enterprise teams: Custom at $174/month. The 12M active lead capacity, dedicated IP, and advanced API access handle any scale. At $174/month, this is one of the most affordable enterprise tier cold email platforms available.
The Real Cost of Running Smartlead
Here's what a typical Smartlead operation actually costs monthly for a team running 200 emails per day:
- Smartlead Pro: $94
- 12 Google Workspace inboxes (3 per domain x 4 domains): $36 to $60 from Puzzle Inbox
- 4 sending domains: $40 to $60/year ($3 to $5/month)
- Email verification (MillionVerifier or ZeroBounce): $15 to $50
- Prospect data (Apollo): $49 to $99
Total: roughly $200 to $310/month for a fully operational cold email system sending 200 emails per day. At even a modest $5,000 deal size, you need one closed deal every 2 to 3 months to make this ROI positive. Most teams close deals faster than that.
