Instantly vs Smartlead vs Lemlist. Which sending platform in 2026?

I have tried all three major cold email sending platforms and here is my honest take.
Instantly: Best for individual SDRs and small teams. Great UI, solid analytics, easy to use. The lead management features keep getting better. Pricing is reasonable. Downside: agency features are limited compared to Smartlead.
Smartlead: Best for agencies. White-label client portals, per-client workspaces, better multi-account management. The unified inbox is solid. Downside: UI is not as polished as Instantly. Learning curve is steeper.
Lemlist: Best for multi-channel sequences that include LinkedIn steps. The LinkedIn automation is genuinely good. Downside: more expensive, email-only deliverability is not as strong as the other two.
My recommendation: Solo SDR or small team → Instantly. Agency → Smartlead. Multi-channel heavy → Lemlist. All three work well with PuzzleInbox Google Workspace inboxes connected via OAuth or SMTP/IMAP.
Important note: your sending platform matters way less than your infrastructure. A great platform on bad inboxes will still land in spam. Mediocre platform on properly warmed Google Workspace inboxes will deliver. Focus on infrastructure first, platform second.

been on Instantly for 6 months. solid but the pricing adds up fast once you pass 25 inboxes. considering Smartlead for the unlimited sending accounts tbh

Lemlist is great if you're doing multichannel (email + LinkedIn) but for pure cold email volume, Instantly or Smartlead are better options. Lemlist also charges per seat which kills you at scale

hot take: the sending platform matters way less than your infrastructure. I've gotten great results on all three. what matters more is your inboxes, DNS setup, and warmup. stop agonizing over which tool and fix your deliverability

We use Smartlead for most clients. The API is better for agency workflows and the unified inbox feature saves us hours per week. But yeah, agree with Owen — infrastructure is the real differentiator.

has anyone tried combining Smartlead with a separate inbox provider? or do most people just buy inboxes through the sending platform?
inboxpro · 2026-02-16
yeah we keep infrastructure and sending separate. buy inboxes from a dedicated provider, connect to Smartlead via OAuth. works perfectly and you're not locked into one ecosystem

Instantly's built-in warmup is decent but not as good as dedicated warmup tools. if you're using pre-warmed inboxes you don't need it anyway so that feature becomes irrelevant

I just want something that's easy to use and won't break. tried Lemlist, UI was nice but felt bloated for what I need. switched to Instantly and it's simpler

the real question is do you need multichannel or not. email only go Instantly or Smartlead. LinkedIn + email in one tool go Lemlist. its that simple stop overthinking it

one thing nobody mentions — check the analytics and reporting features. Smartlead's reporting is way more detailed than Instantly's. matters a lot if you're running an agency and need client-facing dashboards
