Mailstand Review: Budget Cold Email Inboxes Analyzed
Mailstand offers low-cost Google Workspace inboxes for cold email. We tested their deliverability, DNS quality, and support.
Mailstand: Budget Google Workspace for Cold Email
Mailstand targets cold emailers who want the lowest possible per-inbox price. Their offering is straightforward: Google Workspace inboxes at competitive rates, delivered in bulk. For solo founders or freelancers testing cold email for the first time, the low price point is attractive.
We purchased 20 inboxes from Mailstand and ran them through 45 days of testing alongside Puzzle Inbox accounts to see how the budget option actually performs.
What Mailstand Provides
Google Workspace inboxes only — no Outlook 365 option. No pre-warming. Inboxes arrive cold, and you need to bring your own warmup tool or use your sending platform's built-in warmup. DNS setup is included but we found inconsistencies. Of our 20 inboxes, 4 had DMARC records that were either missing or set to "p=none" instead of "p=quarantine" or "p=reject." That is a 20% error rate on a critical authentication record.
Support is email-only with response times averaging 18-36 hours in our experience. No WhatsApp, no live chat. If you receive inboxes with DNS issues on a Friday afternoon, you might not get help until Monday.
Deliverability Testing Results
We ran identical campaigns — same copy, same prospect lists, same sending platform (Instantly), same daily volume per inbox (20 emails/day).
- Mailstand inbox placement: 65-72%
- Puzzle Inbox inbox placement: 87%
- Mailstand reply rate: 1.9%
- Puzzle Inbox reply rate: 3.8%
- Mailstand bounce rate: 3.1%
- Puzzle Inbox bounce rate: 1.1%
- Mailstand spam placement: 12-18%
- Puzzle Inbox spam placement: 2.5%
The deliverability gap is significant. At 65-72% inbox placement, roughly one in three of your cold emails is landing in spam or promotions tabs. That means one in three prospects never sees your message, regardless of how good your copy or targeting is.

Who Mailstand Works For
Mailstand is serviceable for individuals testing cold email at low volume — under 200 emails per day, one or two domains, a small prospect list. If you are just figuring out whether cold email works for your business and want to spend as little as possible on the experiment, Mailstand gets you in the door.
But "serviceable" and "effective" are different things. A 65-72% inbox placement rate means you are leaving meetings on the table from day one. If cold email works for your business at 65% inbox placement, imagine what it does at 87%.
Who Should Skip Mailstand
Agencies managing client campaigns. Teams sending more than 200 emails per day. Anyone where cold email is a primary revenue channel, not an experiment. If results matter, the per-inbox savings from Mailstand are wiped out by the deliverability gap within the first week of sending.
