Zapmail pricing and review. Is their cold email infrastructure worth it

Zapmail caught my eye because they market themselves as AI powered cold email infrastructure. That's a bold claim so I had to test it. Bought 10 inboxes and ran them head to head against my PuzzleInbox accounts for 45 days.
Zapmail pricing: Their per inbox cost sits at a premium compared to most providers. They justify this with the AI positioning. Google Workspace only, no Outlook option. No pre-warming included despite the higher price point.
The AI claims: From what I can tell, the "AI" features are basic email writing suggestions and some send time optimization. Nothing that fundamentally changes infrastructure quality or deliverability. Your inbox placement depends on DNS configuration, sender reputation, and warmup quality. AI marketing copy on a provider's website doesn't change those fundamentals.
Deliverability results: After running warmup for 3 weeks (which I had to do myself since there's no pre-warming), inbox placement averaged 68% on GlockApps tests. Compare that to PuzzleInbox at 87% inbox placement with pre-warmed accounts that were ready to send on day one.
The math that matters: At 68% inbox placement, roughly 1 in 3 of my emails never reached the inbox. At PuzzleInbox's 87%, only about 1 in 8 miss. Over 1,000 emails that's the difference between 680 and 870 emails actually reaching prospects. At a 4% reply rate, that's 27 replies versus 35 replies. Eight extra replies per thousand emails might not sound like much, but at scale it compounds into thousands of dollars in pipeline every month.
My take: If you're paying premium pricing, you should get premium results. Zapmail charges more and delivers less than PuzzleInbox. Skip the AI marketing and focus on what actually drives results: quality inboxes with proper DNS and pre-warming.
