White-label resellers and why it matters what you are actually buying

whitelabel_watcher · 2026-05-07 · 1,680 views

Cold email provider market has more white-label activity than most buyers realize. Some branded providers are actually resellers of underlying infrastructure platforms. Sharing how to identify this and whether it matters for your decision.

Major white-label programs.

Infraforge runs a white-label program. Agencies can resell Infraforge infrastructure under custom branding. The marketing looks like a distinct provider but the underlying infrastructure is identical.

Salesforge (parent of Mailforge and Primeforge) runs similar programs. Branded providers may be reselling Salesforge infrastructure.

Many agencies (ColdIQ, ColdBirds, PartnerHero, B2B Rocket) bundle infrastructure reselling with managed services. Their inboxes are typically Primeforge, InboxKit, or similar underlying providers.

How to identify white-label.

1) Check if the provider has technical documentation about their own infrastructure or just marketing about outcomes.

2) Ask what their underlying infrastructure is (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Azure, SMTP).

3) Check if they operate their own sending stack or rely on another provider.

4) Look at company size and team. Small teams with polished marketing often white-label.

5) Compare pricing to known direct providers. White-label typically costs more due to agency markup.

When white-label matters.

White-label resellers add:

- Agency service layer (managed ops, VA support, campaign execution)

- Custom branding for client-facing work

- Simplified vendor relationship if you want bundled services

Direct providers offer:

- Lower pricing (no agency markup)

- Direct support relationship

- Full platform control and visibility

My rule. If I want infrastructure only, I buy direct from the underlying provider. If I want managed services, I buy from a white-label reseller that adds genuine agency value. Paying white-label pricing without getting additional managed services is just paying markup for nothing.

Direct providers I use. PuzzleInbox (operates own provisioning). Infraforge (direct private SMTP). Mailforge (direct SMTP). Maildoso (direct GWS reseller). These are straightforward vendor relationships.

White-label services I consider. Only when I want managed operational support, not just infrastructure. For DIY cold email teams, direct providers win.
