What Smartlead does for agencies that Instantly still cannot match in 2026

I switched my agency from Instantly to Smartlead 14 months ago. I keep reading people debate this as if it's close. For agencies with 10+ clients, it's not close.
Here is what Smartlead has that Instantly doesn't.
Per-client workspaces that are actually separate. In Instantly, everything runs under one account. Smartlead's sub-account architecture keeps clients in separate workspaces. This matters for agencies billing enterprise clients who ask about data isolation.
White-label client portals. Clients can log in to a branded portal with your agency's name, not Smartlead's. The client sees their campaigns, reply rates, and sequence performance. They don't need to email you for a weekly update. This alone saves me 5+ hours a week across my entire client base.
The unified inbox for agency-scale reply management. All replies from all client campaigns in one view, categorized by client, filterable. When you're managing 30+ campaigns, this is the difference between staying on top of replies and drowning in them.
What Instantly is still better at. The UI is faster and more intuitive. Onboarding new team members on Instantly takes about half the time it does on Smartlead. Lead management inside the platform is also better for smaller operations. If you're a solo SDR or a small team with 1 to 3 client relationships, Instantly is the better experience.
Both platforms connect to PuzzleInbox inboxes via OAuth. No deliverability difference between them when infrastructure is identical. The choice comes down to agency complexity, not platform quality.
Under 5 clients: Instantly. Over 10 clients: Smartlead, no contest. 5 to 10 clients: run both for a month and your workflow will tell you which one fits.
