Cold email sequences for enterprise B2B with five or more stakeholders in the buying committee. What actually moves deals forward instead of stalling them

Enterprise cold email is a different discipline from SMB cold email. The biggest mistake I see when people move upmarket is treating a five-stakeholder buying process like a single decision-maker sale where you just need more follow-ups.
Here is how I structure sequences for enterprise targets. This is based on 14 months selling into companies with 500-plus employees where the average deal involves 5 to 8 stakeholders.
Email one goes to the economic buyer. Not the end user. Not a mid-level champion. The person who controls budget. Under 80 words. Business outcome only. No features, no product language.
If no response in 5 days, email two goes to a different stakeholder at the same company. Typically the operational owner or department head who would feel the problem most directly. Different angle, different framing. They are not the same email with a different name swapped in.
I use Smartlead's inbox rotation across 15 PuzzleInbox inboxes. Different stakeholders receive emails from different inboxes and different sending domains. This matters because some enterprise spam filters flag when multiple emails from the same domain hit the same company simultaneously.
Third touch, 8 days after email one: a brief case study sent only to the economic buyer. One sentence result, one sentence mechanism, one question. The goal is to make them forward it internally. Not to get a reply directly.
Fourth touch, 14 days in: a referral ask. Even if they never replied. Something like: I reach out to [Name] because of [X]. If you are not the right person, could you tell me who owns this decision? This works at a much higher rate in enterprise than in SMB because enterprise people have clearly defined reporting lines and tend to redirect honestly rather than ignore.
When someone does reply, immediately map the org chart. Who do they mention? Who is the budget holder versus the operational champion? Understanding internal politics before the first call separates deals that close in 90 days from ones that drag through six months of circling back. Longest I have waited before a positive reply in enterprise: 47 days. The sequence just needs to stay alive long enough for timing to work in your favor.
