6 months into my first cold email job. Here is what I wish someone told me day one

6 months into my first SDR cold email job. Things I wish someone told me on day one.
1. Infrastructure matters more than copy. I spent weeks perfecting emails that went straight to spam because our inboxes were garbage.
2. 30 sends per inbox per day is too many. Keep it at 15-20 max. Our inboxes got suspended before I learned this.
3. Apollo free tier is enough to start. Do not pay for expensive data tools in month one.
4. Test small before scaling. Send to 100 prospects, measure, iterate. Do not blast 5,000 people with untested copy.
5. Follow-ups are where the money is. 60% of my meetings came from email 2 or 3, not the first email.
6. This community is gold. I learned more here in 6 months than any course or YouTube channel.
If your company is setting up cold email, invest in proper Google Workspace infrastructure first. Everything else is secondary.

"infrastructure matters more than copy" is the single best piece of advice for new cold emailers. I wasted months tweaking subject lines when my emails were going straight to spam because of bad inboxes. fix the foundation first

15-20 sends per inbox is the right number. Glad you learned that before burning too many accounts. Also +1 on follow-ups being where the money is — our data shows 60-70% of positive replies come from email 2, 3, or 4.
