I just hit 5% reply rate for the first time and I am literally shaking

noobsender · 2026-03-03 · 1,820 views

Been doing cold email for 8 months. Started at 0.8% reply rates with cheap SMTP inboxes. Two months ago I moved everything to PuzzleInbox Google Workspace and slowly dialed in my copy.

Just checked my dashboard and my latest campaign hit 5.1% reply rate. 4%+ reply rate. I am literally shaking.

What changed: 1. Switched from shared SMTP to dedicated Google Workspace inboxes. 2. Warmed up for 3 weeks instead of rushing. 3. Shortened my emails from 200 words to under 70 words. 4. Used Apollo to narrow my ICP dramatically. 5. Wrote subject lines that look like internal emails.

The infrastructure switch was the biggest factor. Same copy that got 0.8% on SMTP got 3.2% on Google Workspace before I even optimized anything. Then the copy improvements brought it to 5.1%.

Thank you to everyone in this community who helped me get here. This stuff actually works.

congrats!! 5% is elite territory. what's your inbox setup look like? how many inboxes and what volume per inbox?

the fact that the same copy went from 0.8% on SMTP to 3.2% on Google Workspace says everything about infrastructure. copy matters but if your emails are going to spam none of it matters

3 weeks of warmup is the sweet spot. Most people rush it and do 5-7 days. Minimum 14 days, but 3 weeks gives you a much stronger sender reputation foundation.

sub-70 word emails are where it's at. I used to write these long value-prop essays and wondered why nobody replied. shorter = more replies every single time

what subject lines are you using? the internal email style is something I've been wanting to test

noobsender · 2026-03-05

@jasoneng stuff like "quick question" or "re: [company name]" or just their first name. anything that looks like it came from a colleague, not a salesperson

narrowing your ICP on Apollo is probably the most underrated advice here. most people blast everyone in a title and wonder why reply rates suck. go narrow — company size, tech stack, hiring signals, funding stage

love seeing these success stories. gives hope to all of us grinding through the early stages lol

5% reply rate is really solid. that's right in the sweet spot for good Google Workspace infrastructure. nice work!
